FILM BUFF'S VAMPIRE PACT
A man accused of murdering his lifelong friend has claimed he was ordered to do it by a character in a vampire movie.
Allan Menzies, 22, said he had become obsessed with the film Queen Of The Damned.
After watching it around 100 times in a few weeks he "wanted to go out and murder people".
It features the late US singer Aaliyah who plays a female vampire called Akasha.
Menzies said Akasha would visit him in the bedroom of his home in Fauldhouse, West Lothian.
He told a jury at Edinburgh High Court the character had offered to make him immortal if he committed murder.
Menzies denies killing his childhood friend Thomas McKendrick and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Earlier, the jury heard Menzies told police he had drunk his victim's blood and eaten part of his head.
He said he killed Mr McKendrick using a bowie knife, a kitchen knife and a hammer.
But he had not disposed of the body - that was done by his father.
The trial continues.
