Jury sees cop video

KILLER Allan Menzies bludgeoned and knifed his friend to death because he insulted the heroine of a vampire film, a court heard yesterday.
Menzies, 21, was obsessed with the movie Queen of the Damned and its vampire female character, Akasha, played by late rapper Aaliyah. He told police it drove him mad.
And when Thomas McKendrick, 22, said although Akasha was a ``black bitch, I'd still like to f *** her'' Menzies snapped.
In a video of a police interview, a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh heard Menzies say: ``As soon as he said that, I told him to shut his mouth and then he stoodup and all hell kicked loose. ``He should never have insulted my bird. I know it seems mad but sometimes I feel normal and sometimes I feel stark raving mad, and that day was madness.
``I went nuts and decided to sell my soul. See, this life doesn't matter anymore, the next life does though.''
Thomas's body was found in a shallow grave in woodland near his home inFauldhouse, West Lothian, earlier this year, almost five weeks after he vanished.
The court heard that Menzies, who liked to be known as Vamp, told detectives he drank some of the victim's blood and had eaten part of his head.
Menzies, also of Fauldhouse, has admitted culpable homicide on the grounds of diminished responsibility but the Crown want him convicted of murder.
The trial continues.
