i was helpin paint my room (blue & white) and my momma came in there to check her email (computer is in my room) and she gets this People News Daily and the August 26, 2001 edition was on top of her inbox. I will always rembmer what it said: "Singer Aaliyah killed in crash" and we was like oh my god, i cant believe it it aint true i said "she was just on 106 the other day, she is not dead" and we turned to CNN headline news, and watched them loop the story over and over again. I didnt believe it till i saw the crash footage, no one couldve survived that. They ended all of the stories on CNN with a phrase that i will never forget "She was only 22." It was a said day, it felt like we lost a family member. |

I was at a restaurant with my friends, and my friends bro had told us that had happened, but we didn't believe him, cuz he's like that...but as we were eating, I saw on the tv [fox news network]... "Singer/Actress Aaliyah killed in plane crash"... that crushed me...we all ran to the tv and just started to cry I remember it all like it was yesterday... |

I was in the bed trying to go to sleep, and I couldn't sleep for some reason that night and my husband came upstairs and told me that he had just heard on the radio that Aaliyah had died in a plane crash in the bahamas and I couldn't believe it so I turned on the radio and heard the devasting news that I wish still to this day was not true.  |

it was midnight, just turned sunday i think, and I was up reaaal late, in my Aaliyah Fan Club and then i left, and then i got an important message from them saying.. Attention all aaliyah fans! Aaliyah left early from shooting "Rock the boat" on a cessena(sp?) plane with her crew. But shortly after her plane had crashed...Aaliyah dana haughton, along with 8 crew members...has passed away... RIP Aaliyah and the crew. Or something like that..I just stared at the screen and then rolled my eyes goin "she aint dead this is another one of them stupid ass rumours" then i watched mtv and some news stations like CNN and sure enough it had Aaliyahs passing on it.. thats when it hit me and i started crying.. it was like I lost a best friend.. |

My dad's girlfriend was in the car with me and my dad and my sibs and she always reads the news. We were driving and talking about current events, and she said really casually "oh by the way that one singer you like....aaliyah, that's it! she died in a plane crash yesterday". I trusted her cuz she doesnt lie and always reads the news. At first I was shocked. My mouth dropped. It took like a minute to sink in. Then I got so upset, I wouldn't talk or get out of the seat in the car (we were on our way to a movie I REALLY wanted to see) and i wouldn't get out of the car so they just left me in there and went in. I just wanted to go home and see for myself because I couldn't believe it. When I got home I got on the computer and went to every single news site and printed out the articles. I was so sad. I miss her so much....
